Dijon Motors Cup 2024 - Meeting presentation

DIJON MOTORS CUP (4 to 6 October)

Beyond the borders

Now a veritable institution, the Dijon Motors Cup is preparing to celebrate its eleventh edition on the Côte d'Or circuit and, in keeping with tradition, its international dimension will be showcased in the best possible way. Ten grids with a European audience, spread over 20 races, make up the tasty menu.

RENE ARNOUX AND F2 AT THE TOP OF THE BILL

The first pleasant surprise is that René Arnoux is the prestigious guest of the meeting and will be delighted to come and meet the fans, both in the heart of the paddock and during the Grid Walk. What's more, on this circuit indissociable from one of his most famous exploits, the former F1 champion will take to the track every late morning at the wheel of a 1977 March F2. It's a great way for him and the public to remember the European Championship title he won that same year! The Formula 2 cars of the era will also be in the limelight during the two races of the prestigious F2 Classic Interseries, which will come to a close in Dijon after visiting the Paul Ricard (during the French Historic GP), Silverstone and Spa circuits the previous weekend.

F1 STARS IN THE SINGLE-SEATER FIELD

The Dijon Motors Cup has often put former Formula 1 cars in the spotlight. This will be the case again this year with the ‘Time Attack by AGS’ grid. The spectacular ‘ex-Mark Webber’ Jaguar R5 driven by Dutchman Klaas Zwart, the AGS F1 cars of the time, the LRS Formula F1 cars, etc. will all be in action. There's plenty to marvel at in the sound of the V8 or V10 Formula 1 cars of decades gone by.

When it comes to single-seaters, the three days of the Dijon Motors Cup will not just be about F2 and F1, but also about the categories that produced the greatest champions between the end of the 1950s and the end of the following decade. To this end, the meeting hosts the renowned Lurani Formula Junior Trophy and the no less famous series reserved for the old, and very musical, 1000cc F3s. These two championships are used to racing on the biggest circuits, and their drivers are always delighted to make a diversion to Burgundy.

GT GRIDS TO SUIT ALL TASTES AND AGES

The drivers taking part in the Dijon Motors Cup usually represent more than fifteen different nations. This year's event is no exception, as the programme includes series from all over Europe, which are rarely, if ever, present on French soil. What is true for the single-seaters will also be true for the grids dedicated to GTs and other so-called ‘Touring’ cars. The meeting will see cars from the Dutch SuperSixties and Colmore YTCC series, the British Lotus Cup Europe and the German Ferrari Club Deutschland and Triumph British HTGT in action. Spectacular grids that Prenois spectators have already had the opportunity to discover in previous editions.

Finally, as a historic meeting of this importance cannot do without an endurance race, the traditional 300km race will close the day on Saturday. It promises to be a sumptuous battle, with more than fifty teams on the entry list!
