HISTORIC TOUR DIJON 2: ALREADY HALF TIME!

 

The first half of the French Historic Circuit Championship (the Historic Tour) came to an end on Sunday in Dijon Prenois after the twelve races of the day. The second half of the season will start in four months in Val de Vienne, and will continue in Charade and Albi. We are in the same team and after my victory yesterday, we have to be fair!Jean-Charles Valinho (fifth in Racing 81 with a Datsun 240Z): "I made a driving error on the first lap, which delayed me and prevented me from hoping for another podium. To continue to be well placed in the French championship, I have no right to make a mistake and this was one! The Datsun 240Z is a favourite. This is already the second one we are preparing and it is certainly not finished. Between now and the Val de Vienne we'll have time to fine-tune the tool...".Matthieu Midy (winner and second in Formula Ford kent on a Van Diemen RF90): "This afternoon, Hugo (Carini) drove very well. It was once again very hot, with him as well as with Arnaud (Dousse) who has the art of slipping into a foxhole. It's really fun on these Kent races, especially here with the slipstream. You have to be as clever as you are quick. It's fun, very close, but always full of respect. Frédéric Lajoux (March 793 in F3 Classic), "Nelson" (Martini MK48 in Formula Renault Classic), Maxime Lebreton (Van Diemen in Formula Ford Zetec), José Beltramelli (TVR Griffith 400 in Asavé Racing 65) are to be credited with the achievement, Franck Quagliozzi (Honda Civic in Youngtimers GTI Cup), Philippe Gandini (Mini Jem in Maxi 1300 Series), Laurent Sabatier (Porsche 993 GT2 in GT Classic) and Anthoni Vetro (Lotus Seven in Lotus Trophy). UPDATE ON THE FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIPAt the halfway point of the season, it's time to take stock of the positions in the French Historic Circuit Championship. In the single-seater/rotor category, Hugo Carini left Burgundy in the same position he was in when he arrived. Although he was defeated in one of his two Formula Ford Kent races, he retains the lead with 10 points (230 against 220) over François Belle (Formula Ford Historic) and Davide Leone (F3 Classic), both of whom did not win this weekend. Fred Lajoux is also back in the game with a 20-point lead, thanks to his one-two finish in F3 Classic.In the GT/Tourism category, Philippe Gandini also retains the power and can now boast of being the only Historic Tour driver still unbeaten on his grid (the Maxi 1300 Series) this season. For lack of success in the Saloon Cars, former co-leader Julien Grenet now returns 10 points (230 against 240), while Fabrice Lefebvre takes advantage of his good weekend to climb to third place.We'll talk about the rest from 9 September!
