HISTORIC TOUR LEDENON 1: THE STORY SPEEDS UP
This Pascal weekend, the history of motor sport is being rewritten on the very hilly Lédenon circuit on the occasion of Act 2 of the French Historic Circuit Championship. After today's nine races, the meeting will continue on Sunday at the same frantic pace.
A DAY IN FIGURES9 : the number of races on Saturday.256 : the number of drivers entered in the French Championship grids.35 : the number of cars in the most crowded grid (the Lotus Trophy).170 : the number of laps of the circuit covered during the day.1959 : the model year of the oldest car at the meeting: Pierre-Emmanuel Champailler's Lotus Elite.27°: the temperature at the hottest point of the day!184/1000 of a second : the smallest gap of the day between a winner and his immediate following (Antoine Weil and Lionel Robert in Formula Renault Classic)1'24''071 : the best time achieved in the race, all platforms combined (Stéphane Nguyen on a Lucchini SP94 in SportProtosCup at an average speed of 135.1 km/h) THEY SAIDHugo Carini (winner of the Formula Ford Kent Trophy in a Van Diemen): "It was a particularly intense race with Arnaud (Dousse) and Laurent (Waisler) behind me, who are going very fast. Even though we're in a historic car, it's going very fast, even for someone like me who's just come out of modern LMP3! At my level, it's a great pleasure to be back on the Historic Tour this year". Eric Martin (winner of the SportProtosCup in a Debora Alfa): "Contrary to what happened at Magny-Cours, the car works very well this time. I fought with Stéphane (Nguyen) throughout the race, it was really nice. This season I'm switching from F3 to Sport-Proto with this very nice Debora, but I'll be back in F3 at the GP de France Historique". Franck Julien (winner in Racing 81 with a Ford Escort BDG): "After winning the pole, I had to confirm it in the race, and I did! I have a special affection for this Ford Escort RS. In memory of Claude Boissy, I hope that more and more of us will drive this type of car in the future. UPDATE ON THE FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIPAmongst the winners of this Saturday's race, Hugo Carini, José Beltramelli and Franck Quagliozzi are the drivers who achieved the best operation in the French Historic Circuit Championship. Respectively winners in Formula Ford Kent, Asavé Racing 65 and Youngtimers GTI Cup, as they had already been twice in Magny-Cours, the three finished the day preserving their invincibility. A status that is no longer relevant for Lionel Robert and François Belle, respectively beaten (by a small margin) in Formula Renault Classic and Formula Ford Historic, and even less so for Anthony Delhaye (4th in the Lotus Trophy), Jean-Charles Valinho (4th in Racing 81) and Frédéric Lajoux (victim of an engine failure in F3 Classic).
