HISTORIC TOUR NOGARO| Film of the week-end
Absent from the Historic Tour calendar for many years, the Nogaro circuit offered the 258 drivers entered an ideal playing field to battle it out on track after the summer break. The 21 races of this fourth round of the season took place on this demanding 3.636km track.
In six weeks' time, the epilogue to the French Historic Circuit Championship will take place in the Val de Vienne on 18-19-20 October.
Unfortunately, the meeting came to a tragic end with the death of Jean-Pierre Gaillard, who crashed at the start of the final race of the weekend. A loyal fan of the Historic Tour and more specifically of the GT Classic Trophy, the likeable Swiss driver had driven the races for several seasons at the wheel of a Porsche 928, replaced this year by a Porsche 996 GT3 Cup. The HVM Racing organising team offers its heartfelt condolences to his wife and family and joins in the grief of his many Historic Tour friends.

THEY SAID
Jean-Charles MONNET, 2nd in the French Single-Seater/Proto Championship and double winner this weekend: It's a bit unexpected to be second in the French Championship. To be perfectly honest, I wasn't thinking about it at the start of the season, but now that the title is within my grasp, I'm going to do everything I can to keep fighting for the lead. We'll see how the final goes in Val de Vienne!
Mathieu RIGOULET, leader of the French GT/Tourism championship post 90: I was a little disappointed in race 2 because I took penalties, dropping from 2nd to 9th. My rival didn't finish the race but still scored points, so it's still a close race. We're going to try and fight for the title right to the end, so we mustn't make any mistakes at Val de Vienne and try to win both races or at least finish on the podium.
UPDATE ON THE FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIP
Ahead of the final round of the season on the Val de Vienne circuit next month, it's time to take stock of the standings in the 2024 French Historic Circuit Championship.
In the Single-seater/Proto category, François BELLE is still in the lead with 305 points in Formula Ford Historic with his Lola T 540 E, but is being overtaken by Jean-Charles MONNET who is 5 points behind him in Formula Renault Classic with his Martini MK48. Switzerland's Gislain GENECAND and his Crosslé 25 F lost ground but retained third place with 276 points.
In the pre-90s GT/Tourism category, where Emmanuel BRIGAND scored another one-two finish this weekend in Racing Over 2L, he is alone in the lead with 306 points in his Porsche 911 3L RSR, well ahead of Philippe GANDINI who lost ground after retiring from Race 1 of the Maxi 1300 Series this weekend in his Mini Cooper S (241 points). Florent CAZALOT, twice winner of the Lotus Trophy with his Lotus Seven, takes third place with 234 points.
Still in GT/Touring but this time post 90s, Mathieu RIGOULET dominates the standings in Roadster Pro Cup with 246 points in his Mazda MX5 MK1, 7 points ahead of Augustin MOREAU in Youngtimers GTI Cup (239 points) and his Honda Civic EE9. Patrick DELANNOY follows in third place with 235 points in GT Classic with his Porsche 964 RSR.
Finally, in the Historic Endurance category, the RICHELMI/GACHE duo lost first place to the BESSON/GAGNARD duo (110 points) and their Chevron B16 FVC due to a mechanical breakdown on Saturday evening. The Franco-Swiss duo of XAVIER/GENECAND took second place with 90 points in their Chevron B29, just one point ahead of the GRENET/DANNE team and their 89 points in their Porsche 911 SC.
