HISTORIC TOUR CHARADE (May 31/June 2)

A reunion

The Championnat de France Historique des Circuits (Historic Tour) returns to the Auvergne track for its second meeting of the season. On such a selective track, the 21 races over the weekend promise to be rich in emotion and adventure.

THE IDEAL PLACE TO MAKE HISTORY

Absent from the Historic Tour calendar last year, the Charade circuit is back on the scene to the delight of the protagonists in this second act of the 2024 French Historic Circuit Championship, which began a month earlier in Dijon Prenois. With its rolling hills and bucolic setting dominated by the nearby Puy de Dôme, its 3.9 km track remains a prime destination for any racing driver. All the more so in the context of historic racing, given that part of the track is on the memorable "grand circuit" which hosted the French F1 Grand Prix on four occasions between 1965 and 1972. In short, there's no better place to rewrite history than a place steeped in it!

ALMOST 340 DRIVERS EXPECTED BY HVM RACING

As in Dijon for the season's kick-off event, the entry list is looking good, with some 300 single-seaters, protos and GT/Touring cars from the last century spread evenly over the 11 grids. Taking into account crewed races and shared vehicles, a respectable total of 338 drivers are expected on site by the HVM Racing organizing team! 

Following a well-known pattern, each of these grids will be used to organize a daily race over the weekend, while to these 20 starts will be added that of the 200 km race, the unmissable 90-minute endurance race which closes the day on Saturday. In addition to the eligible grids of the French Championship and the "support" grid of the Saloon Cars Trophy, the copious Charade program also includes a "guest" grid: the Dutch Supersixties, whose 40 pre-1966 GT/Tourism cars will form a field as spectacular as it is exceptionally varied.

Finally, a Grid Walk open to the public will precede the start of the Formula Ford Kent Trophy on Saturday, followed by the F3 Classic/Formule Renault Classic Trophy on Sunday.

FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIP: THE RACE FOR POINTS

Beyond the raw results of the weekend's races, it's the French Historic Circuit Championship that will take centre stage, with its four national titles to be awarded at the end of the season. In the light of Dijon's opening scores, François Belle (Formule Ford Lola T540E), Josserand De Murard (proto Giada T118) and Louis Kolly (proto Lola T292) will arrive in Auvergne as leaders of the Monoplaces/Protos championship, followed by Philippe Gandini (Mini Cooper) in GT/Tourisme Pré 1990, Jean-François Besson (Venturi 400), Mathieu Rigoulet (Mazda MX-5) and Augustin Moreau (Honda Civic) in GT/Tourisme Post 1990 and, finally, the Philippe Gache/Jean-Pierre Richelmi crew (Porsche 934) in Endurance.

In the paddock, the Historic Tour's partners' village includes Oreca (sale of racing parts), Sodipneu/Sodifuel (supply of tires and fuel), Stand 21 (customized equipment and driver safety), as well as stands selling derivative products, clothing, miniatures, "automobilia", a 5-piston F1 simulator and the Historic Tour Food Truck. In addition, the traditional Kennol Awards honor a deserving driver at the end of each of the weekend's races.

Friday May 31: Private practice from 8.30am to 3.03pm. Qualifying from 3.13pm to 7.50pm. Saturday June 1: Qualifying from 8.40am to 9.05am, from 10.00am to 10.20am and from 12.40pm to 1.00pm. Races (10) from 9h15 to 9h45, from 10h35 to 12h25 and from 14h30 to 19h45. Sunday June 2: Races (11) from 8:45am to 12:55pm and from 2:30pm to 5:40pm. 

On-site ticketing: weekend pass 25 Euros, 1-day pass 20 Euros. Grid Walk option: 15 Euros/day. Free admission for children under 16 accompanied by a ticket holder.
