Formula Renault Historic & Classic Trophy
* Evolution of the FRenault Classic Trophy into the FRenault Historic & Classic Trophy as part of the French Historic Circuit Championship (Historic Tour).
* subject to approval by the Management Committee
It is with great pleasure that we announce the evolution of the FRenault Classic Trophy within the French Historic Circuit Championship (Historic Tour) into : Formula Renault Historic & Classic. This evolution of the grid promises to further enrich the spectacle of historic racing by showcasing the single-seaters that have marked several decades of competition.
Formula Renault Historic & Classic will bring together all the Renault formulas which took part in official competitions before 31/12/2009, according to the following category breakdown:
- Category A / Formula Renault Historic :
All Formula Renaults built and having taken part in official races before 31/12/1994 (in all their National, European, Turbo, Atmo versions, etc.).
- Category B / Formula Renault Classic :
All Formula Renault cars built and having taken part in official races after 31/12/1994 and before 31/12/2009 (in all their versions 1.6l, 2.0l etc.).
- Category C / Guest Formulas :
These are single-seaters with performances similar to those in category A (e.g. Formula Ford 2000, Formula Super V, F3, F3 1600cc, F3 1000cc, etc.).
F3 Classic 2.0l cars will be welcome in Category C / Guest Formulas.
Category A drivers will score points for the ‘Single Seater / Prototype’ classification of the French Historic Circuit Championship. Points will be awarded on the basis of the overall classification of each race without distinction of division or class.
Guest’ and category B and C drivers will not score points in the French Historic Circuits Championship.
This development will put the spotlight on cars which, for many, have been the springboard for great champions, while guaranteeing a real return to the roots for Formula Renault fans.
It will provide an exceptional platform to bring these machines back to life during 5 events on the following schedule:
4-5-6 April Historic Tour Dijon
16-17-19 May Historic Tour Ledenon
13-14-15 June Historic Tour Paul Ricard
19-20-21 September Historic Tour Val de Vienne
17-18-19 October Historic Tour Magny Cours
