The Track of Legends

A Historic Celebration of Formula 1

At the Rétromobile show, the KENNOL Grand Prix de France Historique sets a date with its future spectators. Scheduled for April 25, 26, and 27, the seventh edition promises to be exceptionally rich. At its core, the history of Formula 1, and Renault in particular, will be celebrated like never before.

The event’s dates were already known, but now the eagerly awaited program has been unveiled, along with exciting surprises from the organizers: Circuit Paul Ricard, HVM Racing, and the FFSA. The official presentation at the Rétromobile Show lifted the curtain on some thrilling announcements, though some surprises will remain secret for a few more weeks…

This seventh edition, the fifth held at Circuit Paul Ricard, will stay true to its roots, offering fans a unique opportunity to witness decades of motorsport history unfold before their eyes. Through races, exhibitions, and special showcases, the event will revisit the history of single-seater racing, focusing on the most famous category of all: Formula 1. This edition will honor F1 like never before, featuring legendary champions and an incredible lineup of historic race cars.

Fans will experience an unmatched level of proximity with legendary drivers and machines, reinforcing the event’s festive and welcoming atmosphere. The 2024 edition gathered 80,000 spectators over its three unforgettable days, and this year promises to break records again!

1. Renault Celebrates 20 Years Since Its First F1 World Championship Title

This anniversary calls for a grand celebration. In 2005, Renault achieved the ultimate glory, securing both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ World Championship titles with Fernando Alonso. It was a historic first for Renault as a full team, following its championship-winning years as an engine supplier in the 1990s.

Two decades later, the KENNOL Grand Prix de France Historique will mark the occasion in spectacular fashion:

  • A special exhibition will take fans through Renault’s legendary F1 moments.
  • Several iconic Renault F1 cars will return to the track for parades on Saturday and Sunday.
  • The famous 2005 R25 V10, driven by Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella, will be back on track with former Renault test driver Franck Montagny at the wheel.
  • The 1979 RS10 turbo, once driven by Jean-Pierre Jabouille, will be entrusted to his son Victor Jabouille.
  • René Arnoux and Nicolas Prost will take turns driving the 1983 RE40, previously raced by Alain Prost.

2. A Sensational Lineup of F1 Legends

Each edition of the KENNOL Grand Prix de France Historique welcomes an ever-growing list of prestigious guests. In April, a record number of F1 stars will be in attendance, including:

  • World Champions: Alain Prost and Jacques Villeneuve
  • Legendary drivers: Jean Alesi, David Coulthard, Mark Webber, René Arnoux, Franck Montagny, Philippe Alliot, and Yannick Dalmas
  • More big names will be announced in the coming weeks!

These stars won’t just be there for meet-and-greets—they will return to the track in historic F1 cars during the “Fast & Famous: Legends on Track” show on Saturday and Sunday.

3. Scuderia Ferrari Joins the Action with Over 70 Historic F1 Cars

More than 70 Formula 1 cars from various eras will take to the Circuit Paul Ricard. Like Renault, Ferrari will bring some of its most legendary race cars for fans to admire on track—some even driven by former Scuderia Ferrari drivers!

In addition to parades and historic car displays, the Formula GP platform will feature 2000s-era F1 cars in Hot Laps. Meanwhile, the Masters Racing Legends F1 championship will showcase 30 iconic F1 cars from the 1970s and early 1980s, most powered by the legendary Ford Cosworth V8. The event will feature:

  • Two Grid Walks
  • Two thrilling races

4. 13 Races, Including the Exclusive Masters Group C Event

The KENNOL Grand Prix de France Historique will once again highlight the greatest racing categories of past decades. In addition to the two F1 grids, other single-seater categories will be celebrated, including:

  • Formula 2 and Formula 3 Classic Interseries
  • Formula Junior Lurani Trophy

Endurance racing will also be in the spotlight with the 200 km GT/Prototype race and, most excitingly, the Masters Group C races—a brand-new addition for 2025! This category will bring back legendary Le Mans prototypes from 1982 to 1993, offering fans the chance to witness the return of classic 24 Hours of Le Mans icons in full racing action.

WORDS FROM THE ORGANIZERS

Jean Alesi – President of Circuit Paul Ricard

“The KENNOL Grand Prix de France Historique is for both longtime F1 enthusiasts and new fans alike. It’s now the only major Formula 1 event in France! Here, fans can meet legendary drivers in the paddock and get close to iconic race cars. And what better place to relive these moments than Circuit Paul Ricard, which hosted the French Grand Prix for 23 years? It will be a real joy to share this experience with the fans, with my friend Alain Prost, and with all the champions joining us this year. We have more surprises in store—don’t miss it!

Laurent Vallery-Masson – Grand Prix Promoter
